About Me.

Hello Folks:

I am not a medical professional in any way. I am more like a lay expert in panic attacks and anxiety.

How To Stop Panic Attacks? Become Unafraid!

How To Stop Panic Attacks? Become Unafraid!

I experienced panic attacks for six years, tried many possible “cures” and studied the pertinent literature I could find.

My personal journey through panic attacks ended about 30 years ago.

Let me make it clear that I believe there are panic attack cures. I worked one out for myself and I’ve documented that well in my writings.

I also believe that it is easy to cure panic attacks for most people and, as far as I know, there is only one way that I can count on to cure panic attacks. (anxiety attacks)

Later I discovered that the method I used to get rid of panic attacks was VERY similar to the one that is presented in Panic Away.

Additionally, I don’t feel there are “cures” for anxiety, especially long term. To me a cure, by it definition, means that the problem the cure was aimed at should be gone.

General anxiety is different from the “attacks.” Anxiety has levels. Anxiety ebbs and flows, comes and goes.

Anxiety at it’s most basic is fear. Fear of threats or possible threats, imagined or real.

On a 1 to 10 scale I feel that most people live in the range of 3 and more anxious (fearful) people inhabit the 6 or maybe even 7 range.

Then there is what I refer to as “hyperanxiety.” Panic attacks, anxiety attacks, whatever you call them are surprisingly similar for everyone. And those symptoms are universally VERY distressing.

But, thankfully, panic attack symptoms (the attack itself) are easy to get rid of.

This is counter-intuitive on first look because the feelings, emotions, and physical symptoms of panic attacks are so strong, so overwhelming, and so frightening that it is easy to guess they are hard to deal with.

But, in my experience (30 years) panic attacks are the “easy” part of overall anxiety to deal with.

And, once the attacks (big “spikes” in anxiety) are dealt with, it becomes much easier to deal with the lower and mid levels of anxiety.

My reasoning is simple. Panic attacks (anxiety attacks – anxiety spikes) can make you feel crazy, out of control and even fearful for your life.

When you have the real fear of one of those episodes returning at any time , how could you feel safe? How can you be very relaxed? I couldn’t.

So, there is a bit of my views on the subject and I invite you to leave a comment on this blog.

I will answer you, to the best of my ability, and, maybe, that question and answer will do someone else some good, too!

Thank you,

Here’s to your speedy recovery,

RIley West – Former Sufferer of Panic Attacks.
