Hello Folks!
I have a pretty simple notion about anxiety in general and a more nuanced understanding of acute anxiety in specific.
Anxiety is just fear. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, we were born with it and we can deal with it. If we wouldn’t have had fear we’d all have been eaten by saber-toothed tigers and we wouldn’t be here to worry now!
It’s the LEVELS of anxiety that we are concerned with.
There’s what I call the “normal range” of anxiety. People are comfortable with that. If we were to describe it on the old 1 to 10 scale I thing “normal” would go up to 3 or maybe 4.
That’s the kind of anxiety that comes with having a little trouble with paying bills (not a lot of trouble – a little)
But when we move up the scale of anxiety past 4 and up to 7 or 8 we are in the range of elevated anxiety levels and these are hard to live with. Call it uncomfortable at best and taxing and worrisome at it’s worst.
There are things we can do to bring these levels of anxiety down into a more comfortable range.
And then there is what I call “Hyperanxiety.” Levels 9 to 10. Panic.
It’s best to just not go there in the first place because that is easier than getting out of over the top anxiety once you are there.
Call it prevention. That’s what I do. I prevent panic attacks from occurring in the first place and, as far as I know there is only one way to do that.
Remember that anxiety is fear. Low anxiety – low fear. High anxiety – big fear. (it preys on you and wears you down)
And hyper-anxiety, anxiety attacks, panic attack (they are the same thing) That’s extreme fear – very scary – out of control fear. It’s panic.
Panic drives your mind to extreme thoughts and extreme anxieties (fears) like “going crazy” all the way up to “dying!”
We can’t have that. It’s too much. It’s crazy-making. No way to live.
I say we can’t work on our high anxiety issues effectively until we eliminate our hyper anxiety panic attack syndrome.
Just getting rid of the fear of panic attacks will have a big effect on lowering your overall anxiety.
Which brings us to the place where I want to make a point.
The way to cure yourself of panic attacks is to get rid of the fear of panic attacks.
And it’s easy to learn to not fear panic attacks. Joe Barry, who I have talked about at length has perfected a method of teaching you how to get rid of the fear that works! Fast.
It’s that simple. Especially simple if you know how to do it. It took me six years to figure it out and when I did the panic attacks left and never came back. Six years!
