I went to my family doctor once, way back, and told him I was

“nervous.” More nervous than people should be. Anxious even. I was looking for anxiety cures.

Here is what my incredible, and incredibly old, doctor told me back in the day (that would be the 70’s). He must have been in his 80’s and he had been the entire family’s doctor for about 50 years.

He wore a white smock like they did then. He also carried a loaded revolver. I asked him about that once and he regaled me with his stories of the times (more than one) when he would close up his office at about 6 PM and head to his car.

Apparently, he encountered some hoodlums trying to steal his car and then switching to the idea of mugging him! Didn’t work.

When I complained to him that I was as nervous as a “long tail cat in a room full of rockers” he just sat back and looked at me.

Then he said, “You’ll probably grow out of it.” I was about 26 years old. That was about 1974. Vietnam had cratered. Hair was long.

Then he went on…“But until that time comes here are some things that you can do that are

2. Easy.”

He looked at me through his world class bushy eyebrows and said, “Son, you aren’t old enough to be overly nervous yet!”

He looked like the professor in “Back To The Future” only he was a lot less frantic.

So, like I promised in yesterday’s post, here are the things that he told me would greatly reduce my anxiety. I did them, I am still doing them and they work! They are not “anxiety cures.” They are “anxiety reducers,” but they have a powerful effect.

How To Reduce Anxiety Methods! – Natural, Too!

1. Make sure you get really good sleep!

2. Regular light exercise Is very effective – Walking is perfect.

3. Reduce Caffeine intake or stop completely. Same thing with Alcohol.

4. Eat better food! Your body and mind run on that stuff!

5. What if you are low on some vitamin or mineral? – Multivitamins!

6. Leave work at work! Don’t think about work when you are not there.

7. Take some time outs! See a Movie! Read a book!

Your walk’s count as time outs, too!  If you do just these things, and only a little bit, you’ll be amazed at the changes

OK? So these are the things you are supposed to do to reduce your anxiety.

Like I have said before, if you are plagued with panic attacks, getting those out of your life is the first step.
